Anyway here are some photos of progress from beginning to end. He replaced the front fenders with new ones. If I remember each fender has 8 bolts and with the 20-year-old truck almost all bolts broke so I had to drill and touch new ones. I was very familiar with the threading tool. He took one of the old front fenders and tested different PSI configurations to get the right texture I liked. I ended up using 60 PSI for my setup. The Devil Taco I want to do this to my truck. But my truck is my daily driver and it looks more like a weekend project. The other thing that makes me doubt is that I have no place to spray it inside... I know that people do this spraying outside... but my luck would be just to the point of being a little tacky and a bee swarm would decide to throw it. First huge acclaims for doing this yourself, especially knowing that you are not an expert on this. (As a side note, everyone starts somewhere no matter what it is.) Secondly I think it turned out to be very good and it seems that he actually put work on the prep. Finally, this could be a great alternative for me to make my truck one of these days. Separate names with comma. Useful searchesWelcome to Tacoma World! Raptor Liner Thread Discussion on '' initiated by , . [OP] The rembrandt of the boiler bottle I just spoke on the phone with Raptor Liner's technical representative and I thought I'd share the knowledge you just left about me. Raptor Liner is based on uretano so it will not really fade (fade rates similar to auto paint and light coat). The guy I talked to had him in his bed for seven years and he says he still looks new. It's highly flexible, so it won't break, even if you dense the body that's covered. If you follow these steps and get good mechanical adherence, then the Raptor Liner app is a dumb test. I'm just gonna do my rocker panels and accompanying body lines, so I didn't really put much on making the bed. If you're going to make the bed, he recommended starting in the corners, where there are 90 degrees angles and getting a nice coat there first. For rock panels: The air compressor needs to be 8 cfm @ 50-60 psi. Mask your truck properly. 1. Prep the body/painting with the solvent wax/grase grinder. Do not use thinner paint or acetone. It's coming in a spray can. Liberally spray the wax/grass in body painting. Take a clean, clean cloth very well. Take another clean cloth and clean any residue and dirt. If necessary, take a third clean cloth and finish. 2. Sand body / paint with 150 grit sand paper. He said you could use a maroon buffer pad but you won't have the same kind of bite required for optimal mechanical adherence. When everything said and done, the painting must seem very boring and all scratched. 3. Repeat step 1. 4. Follow instructions to mix base and hardening. Spray the Raptor Liner. You can control the texture as far as the applicator's gun is from the surface and how high the psi is. For a thinner texture/keep the weapon further and use the highest psi. The way Raptor Liner is working is if your first coat is too textured, not feared, you can always spray a thinner coat on the top and the roughest texture is completely covered. It is recommended to spray 2-3 coats. If you are satisfied with how you take care of 2 coats, you can stop. 5. Remove the masking tape 10-15 minutes after the final coat is polished. I asked about my fiberglass bengalas (98-00). He said Raptor Liner will adhere to any good mechanical adherence. Recommended to use Grip #4 adhesion promoter for fiberglass as the material tends to expand and contract. He said if you want to use Grip #4 in bed, body, etc, but it's not necessary. For the fiberglass bengalas it recommended: clean (step 1), sand (step 2), clean again (step 1), Grip spray #4 and let dry completely (normally 15 minutes), Raptor Liner spray (step 4). I hope that helps. Do not use thinner or acetone paint That wasn't a vitamin! I suppose you can get a more "gritty/textured" look if you choose the spray-on on the roll-on? Deal with dead animals. I've seen a rapist that Hammerhead had made to his bed and was really impressed. IIRC told me that if you wanted a more rough texture that you would mark the air compressor. I plan to go to this route in my bed as soon as I get other things to handle. My.02. Well-Known Member Raptor Liner is great. I used it on my trailer project and it was great! Definitely the best product of DIY bed linen. My suggestion, that's all. There is a crazy amount of overspray when using a Schutz weapon (recommended weapon for the tracker). If you don't want a liter in it, mask it. Consider yourself warned. That includes your entrance, garage whatever. Well-Known Member im looking to make my rocker panels, so make sure to keep this thread updated with photos and more information thanks for all the tips and tricks so far you can not wait to see how it goes. The technical representative I spoke said: Low distance between weapon and surface = more pronounced texture Higher psi and greater distance between weapon and surface = pointed/less texture This is of course dependent air compressor as some move more volumes of air than others. He said a rough approach is to use 30-35 psi for a thinner texture. He also said, that he surprised me, that a thinner texture will give him better traction in, for example, a wet bed. This is really a great product. Well-Known Member another question, would you let it dry between layers or quickly apply coats and then remove masking tape to get the cleanest lines possible for rocker panels? Well-Known Member If you get a kit like this with a gun, then it's a Schutz weapon. There are no adjustments or adjustments to this type of weapon. Click to enlarge... The amount of time between the coats is detailed in the instructions (I do not have them or otherwise would provide such information). But the technical representative said he removed the masking tape about 15 minutes after the last coat to secure clean lines (and therefore the product does not harden on the masking tape) On the website it says that it is dry to the touch in about an hour, ready for use of light rights in 2-3 days, regular / heavy use in 5-7 days. I'm sure that's what bed linen refers to. I have no idea for rock panels. That link I have previously provided states that: Includes: Four 750 ml bottles (25 oz) bed lining base, 1 liter hardening, application spray gun (requires 8 cfm @ 50-60 psi compressed air), and instructions. A kit will cover up to a standard 8-foot truck bed or 125 square feet. The total kit makes 1.06 gallons. Boat wt: 13 lbs. I guess that's 2-3 layers. What I like about this product is that it is inkable to any color you want. So if you want the color to match your truck, you just have to get the base layer of uretano from the color of your truck. You can irogle some murderous projects there where the whole truck is Raptor Lined Hey Madjik... Do you have any idea for coverage?
